Double killing in Bolivia: body with threatening note and man shot dead in his home
Two men lost their lives in violent incidents recorded on Monday in different regions of Bolivia, according to vision360.bo. Both cases are being investigated by the police and the public prosecutor's office.
The first discovery was made in the area of the Ecological Corridor in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where the lifeless body of a man was found bound and in a state of decomposition. The victim showed apparent bullet impacts and was not carrying any identification documents.
Prosecutor Rose Mary Barrientos indicated that the deceased was between 35 and 40 years old and had five entry holes and two exit holes from projectiles, data that will need to be confirmed by autopsy. Near the body, investigators found a note written on cardboard with a threatening message: "The deadline has already been met. From here on, every dead person there is will be on your conscience. Pay the debt." The text also included the name of a person to whom the warning was allegedly directed, which points to a suspected debt as the motive for the crime.
The authorities began proceedings to establish the identity of the victim, reconstruct the circumstances of the incident and determine those responsible.
The second case occurred at approximately 04:00 in the Villa 8 neighbourhood of the municipality of Guayaramerín, department of Beni. According to a report from Red Uno cited by vision360.bo, neighbours alerted authorities to an intense burst of gunfire during the early hours of the morning. Upon entering the property, police officers found the body of Abel Bejarano Zeballos, who had received multiple gunshot wounds inside his own home.
Investigators carried out the legal removal of the body and collected evidence at the scene. As of now, the authorities have not revealed the motive for the attack nor have they identified the perpetrators.
No authority has established any link between the two incidents. Investigations in both cases remain open.
