Autopsy reveals violent death in Santa Cruz's Cordón Ecológico
The autopsy performed on the man found dead in the Cordón Ecológico of Santa Cruz de la Sierra determined that he died from cranioencephalic trauma, with injuries to the lung and liver, according to El Deber. The forensic examination also identified five gunshot impacts on the body and evidence of blunt force injuries to the skull.
The prosecutor assigned to the case, Rose María Barrientos, noted that during the autopsy a projectile lodged in the seventh right rib was recovered and collected by the forensic pathologist. The victim was between 35 and 45 years old and carried no personal documents, so he remains unidentified.
Barrientos clarified that the forensic examination revealed two blunt force blows to the head that caused skull fractures and expulsion of brain matter. The findings were communicated by specialists from the Institute for Forensic Investigations (IDIF), which continues to collaborate with proceedings to clarify the circumstances of the crime.
The body was found on a dirt road leading towards the banks of the Piraí River, after neighbours alerted police during the early hours of Monday. Personnel from the Special Force to Combat Crime (FELCC), through the Homicide unit, carried out the legal removal and collected evidence from the scene. The cadaver was transferred to the morgue at Pampa de la Isla.
The Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed that images of a placard allegedly linked to the crime are circulating on social media. Barrientos indicated that its content is being analysed by IDIF specialists and that more precise results are expected in the coming hours.
So far there are no persons apprehended or detained in relation to the case. Police are conducting interviews with neighbours and other people who may provide information about possible suspects or vehicles present at the location. Investigators are also obtaining images from surveillance cameras installed in areas surrounding the Cordón Ecológico to reconstruct the movements prior to the discovery.
The prosecutor stressed that no hypothesis regarding the motive for the murder has been ruled out. The identification of the victim and the results of the ongoing proceedings will be determinative in guiding the investigation and establishing who participated in the act.
