Bone remains and militia links: Torrico case in Quillacollo expands
The Torrico brothers, detained in San Pablo de Quillacollo, face a second prosecution for possible homicide following the discovery of female bone remains in a searched property.

Torrico brothers: bone remains, armed militias and multiple charges
Prosecutor Eddy Ordóñez confirmed to reduno.com.bo that the investigation against Alain Wilbor Torrico Quiroga and Saúl Torrico Quiroga has been extended to a second criminal proceeding for the probable commission of homicide, following the discovery of bone remains of a woman in one of the properties searched in Quillacollo.
Both brothers are being held in preventive detention at San Pablo de Quillacollo prison, charged with unlawful possession and carrying of firearms and explosive substances.
Remains buried in the searched property
During the search, nine vertebrae, several ribs and a pelvis were found, as well as clothing remains, a slipper-type shoe and a sock. The remains were buried, although some parts were visible to the naked eye.
The specialised unit for homicide, in coordination with the Institute for Forensic Investigation (IDIF), is working to determine the circumstances of death and the victim's identity. "We understand there is considerable complexity; we have not found the skull; however, we are exploring other ways to be able to identify this person," declared Ordóñez.
This proceeding is separate from the main investigation into firearms and explosives.
Militia conversations on seized mobile phones
Following a review of the detainees' phones, investigators found photographs of firearms, images of meetings and messages in WhatsApp groups referring to the formation of armed militias.
"There are messages with certain people in WhatsApp groups linked to a manifestation of armed militias, stating that armed militias needed to be formed as in the year 52," explained the prosecutor.
Ordóñez noted that investigators are still looking into the identity of the participants in those communications and what their relationship was with the brothers. For now, he avoided revealing names in order not to obstruct the investigation.
Extensive judicial history of one of the brothers
The prosecutor detailed that Alain Wilbor Torrico has a record for domestic violence (2015), serious and minor injuries, fraud (2020), deprivation of liberty (2023) and threats (2026). Some cases were dismissed, others shelved and one is at trial stage.
His brother Saúl Torrico Quiroga, by contrast, has no prior record according to Public Ministry data.
