A woman presented herself to police authorities after her seven-month-old daughter died and was buried inside her home in the Munaypata area of La Paz, according to urgente.bo. The incident dates from 21 September.
The defence lawyer for the accused, Mónica Irusta, explained her client's account: "She states that she would have given her milk, subsequently would have cuddled her so she could rest, when she would have realised that unfortunately the child was no longer breathing."
Following the death, the woman fled to the locality of Chulumani, although she ultimately chose to surrender to the authorities. Irusta stated that the accused would not have exercised physical violence against the child, and that the result of the legal autopsy is being awaited to determine the cause of death.
For his part, the child's father was the one who filed the formal complaint with the authorities. He demanded that what happened be clarified and called for justice for the concealment of his daughter's body.
