The Military Police arrested two people and seized nearly 20 kilograms of drugs during an operation by the Advanced Operational Response Battalion (BRAvO), carried out last Tuesday (27), between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m., in the south zone of São Paulo. According to agenciasp.sp.gov.br, the operation was coordinated by the 16th Metropolitan Military Police Battalion (16º BPM/M) and also resulted in the seizure of 28 ammunition rounds of various calibres and a radio communicator.

During the operation, police officers approached 278 people and inspected 193 vehicles, of which 168 were motorcycles.

Three occurrences related to drug trafficking were recorded by the teams. In one of them, a man was detained in flagrante delicto. Police confiscated portions of cocaine, cannabis, crack, hashish, ecstasy and other substances, as well as money and notes linked to trafficking. On another front, officers from the 3rd Company of BRAvO arrested a second suspect for the same crime and located a property used to store drugs, where tablets and portions of cannabis packaged for distribution were found.

The operation commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Ives Minosso, highlighted the role of motorcycles in the efficiency of patrols. "Our objective is to reinforce policing, combat drug trafficking and other crimes and expand public safety. Operating with motorcycles allows teams to move with greater agility and reach strategic locations according to the operational needs," he stated.

BRAvO operations in the south zone of the São Paulo capital will continue until Saturday (31), at the same time, with a focus on preventing robberies and thefts — especially of mobile phones, rings, chains and other valuable objects. The plan also includes reinforcements at the main accesses to Morumbi stadium during BTS group concerts, as well as operations in neighbourhoods such as Paraisópolis and Jardim Arpoador.

Created to increase the agility of overt policing, BRAvO operates with pairs of police officers on motorcycles, facilitating access to different parts of the city. In the first month of operation in the capital, the battalion carried out 21 operations and arrested 77 people, including 21 wanted by the courts. Data updated up to 22 October record over 9,300 people approached and 5,700 vehicles inspected. In the same period, 500 vehicles were removed for irregularities, and nearly 8 kilograms of drugs and R$ 6,600 in cash were seized.
