Bank accounts of Jaú Chamber invaded by criminals
The Municipal Chamber of Jaú (SP) confirmed on Tuesday (25th) that its institutional bank accounts were compromised and had funds improperly moved by criminals, as reported by g1.globo.com.
The total amount moved by the intruders was not disclosed. The case is being investigated by the Civil Police and is also the subject of internal procedures initiated by the municipal Legislative branch itself.
According to a statement signed by the Chamber president, Jefferson Vieira, urgent measures were adopted as soon as the problem was identified, with the aim of protecting public assets. The Chamber also contacted the financial institution responsible in order to seek full compensation for the loss.
Part of the amount illegally withdrawn has already been recovered, and actions for the full restitution of resources are ongoing. Until Tuesday evening, there was no information about the suspects.
The Legislative branch clarified that the portal and official website of the Chamber were not targets of hacking attacks or intrusions, ruling out any connection between the institutional pages and the financial fraud.
