A pagode interpreter named Nyno was captured by police in São Paulo. The man, who performed regularly in nightclubs and parties in the metropolis, used his fame in the boxes of the city's carnival to conceal illegal activities.
According to investigations, the musician served as a bridge between gang leaders, organising clandestine meetings during his own parties. In locations such as samba schools and other gathering points, he secured isolated spaces for criminals, avoiding any suspicion.
The detention took place at an establishment in the Bela Vista district, following a lengthy period of surveillance by security forces. When approached, he attempted to identify himself with forged documents, but police officers already knew who he really was.
Nyno had previously been linked to a kidnapping in 2008 and also had connections to the clandestine drug trade. At the time of capture, communications devices were confiscated and may help uncover new information about his network of contacts in the criminal underworld.
