Police have confirmed that the bodies found in a wooded area in the east zone of São Paulo belong to the mother of a boy who was the victim of a kidnapping attempt and one of the suspects.

The Civil Police of São Paulo confirmed the identity of two bodies located in a vegetation area in the eastern region of the state capital on 19 June. The victims are the mother of a child who suffered an attempted abduction and one of the men suspected of involvement in the crime.
The boy, seven years old, was approached by two individuals as he was leaving a private school in the Tatuapé neighbourhood, also in the east zone. The criminals tried to drag him into a vehicle, but the child managed to escape and return to the school. The incident occurred on 12 June.
During the investigation, officers discovered that the criminal group had already kidnapped the boy's mother on 10 June, two days before the attempt against her son. She was taken from her home by armed men who broke into the residence.
Police managed to arrest two suspects and free the woman alive on 16 June. However, two other members of the gang fled with the recaptured victim. Days later, the bodies were found.
