Mobile device of police officer wounded in shooting in Greater ABC remains missing from authorities
Investigators working on the case of the attack on Lieutenant Ronickson Pimentel dos Santos, 39 years old, have still not been able to locate the victim's mobile phone. The finding was reported by Folha de S.Paulo.
The officer was shot in the head last weekend, specifically on Saturday (27), when his motorcycle was stopped at a traffic light on Avenida Goiás, in São Caetano do Sul. After falling onto the asphalt, he received initial medical care on the spot and was then transported by helicopter Águia to Hospital Estadual Mário Covas, in Santo André, where he remains under medical care.
As reported by the newspaper, until late Friday afternoon (3), professionals from the Homicides and Protection of Persons Department (DHPP) were unaware of the equipment's whereabouts. For those responsible for the investigation, the telephone's contents may offer crucial leads about who planned and carried out the attack.
Civil Police already have the name and nickname of the main suspect of pulling the trigger: a man known as Golias, against whom the Court issued a warrant for temporary detention. Preliminary evidence indicates that he occupied the rear seat of a motorcycle that aligned with the officer's at the moment of the shot; shortly afterwards, both occupants of the vehicle disappeared. Civil Police and Military Police forces are still searching for him.
In addition to him, two other young men were detained based on the hypothesis of secondary involvement. The state government, however, avoids confirming any direct connection between them and the attempted murder.
During the searches, three men lost their lives in operations commanded by Rota. The incursions began on Monday (29) and extended until Thursday (2), always driven by anonymous information about hiding places of possible participants. The fatal confrontations occurred in the east zone of São Paulo — near the 53rd Police District (Parque do Carmo) and the 68th Police District (Lageado) — and in the city of Peruíbe, on the south coast. In each of the three police reports, there is explicit reference to the crime against the lieutenant.
The most recent episode of the operations unfolded in Peruíbe. On Thursday night, a team went to the municipality after receiving an anonymous call reporting that an individual called Galego would be in a Chevrolet Montana truck. The tip associated him with an armed group and suggested his presence in the ambush on the police officer.
The officers spotted the vehicle and, subsequently, the suspect reportedly ran towards Rua Cuiabá. According to the incident report, there was an armed confrontation at the location. Hit by gunfire, Galego — whose civil name is Elenilson Misael da Silva — was assisted and taken to the Emergency Care Unit of Peruíbe, where he died. The officers stated that they used rifle and pistol ammunition. A firearm of legal use was found with him. The confrontation victim had no police record.
Through an official statement, the Public Security Department emphasised that, up to the present moment, nothing indicates that Elenilson Misael da Silva participated in the shooting against the lieutenant.
Ronickson Pimentel is the brother of Eloá Pimentel, a teenager murdered in 2008 by her partner during a private detention that mobilised the entire country.
