Two men died following an exchange of gunfire with military police in the Pernambués neighbourhood in Salvador on Friday (5). According to g1.globo.com, drugs wrapped with the Brazilian flag were found with the suspects, along with weapons and cash.
According to the Military Police (PM), patrols were operating in the region when a group of armed men opened fire on officers. There was a return of fire and, during the confrontation, some of the suspects fled to nearby buildings.
In one of the buildings, another exchange of gunfire began. Two men were wounded and taken to a hospital unit, where they did not survive their injuries.
From the pair, the following items were seized:
- One submachine gun, calibre 9mm
- One pistol
- Five magazines and ammunition
- 330 portions of cocaine
- 13 packages of crack
- R$ 7,145 in cash
The Civil Police reported in a statement that they recorded the death of the two suspects, adding that there is no formal identification of the victims at this time.
