Two suspects in death of Brazilian military police officer in Corumbá arrested in Bolivia
On Tuesday evening, an agent of Brazil's Federal Military Police was killed in a police operation in Corumbá, a municipality situated on the border with the neighbouring country. Hours later, authorities detained two men accused of involvement in the homicide, already on the Bolivian side.
According to video recordings, the deceased was riding a motorcycle when he spotted colleagues approaching a vehicle. The vehicle's passengers fled into a house and opened fire. The officer was struck and fell to the ground.
He was assisted and taken to a hospital, but did not survive. His identity was confirmed: Marcelo Pimenta Da Silva, 32 years of age.
The search continued and resulted in the arrest of two individuals in Bolivian territory. Brazil's Federal Police identified one of them as the person who fired the fatal shot. Preliminary reports indicate that this man has links to the First Capital Command (PCC), a criminal organisation with significant operations in Brazilian territory.
