A Brazilian federal military police officer died on Tuesday evening following a pursuit operation in a neighbourhood of Corumbá, a city located in the border zone with Bolivia. Hours after the crime, two people suspected of involvement were detained in Bolivian territory.

According to information released by the portal eju.tv, the victim, identified as Marcelo Pimenta Da Silva, 32 years old, was on a motorcycle when he noticed that a group of police officers were intercepting a vehicle. The occupants of the car entered a residence while firing shots. Security camera footage shows that the officer fell, apparently struck by a projectile.

Pimenta Da Silva was taken to a clinic, where he succumbed to his injuries and died. Following his death, the authorities launched an investigation and shortly afterwards arrested two individuals on Bolivian soil.

One of those detained was identified by the Brazilian Federal Police as the perpetrator of the crime. Initial reports indicate that he would be a member of Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), a criminal faction active in Brazil.
