Man shot dead in gym in São José dos Campos; three detained in Rio de Janeiro
Evandro Luiz Prudente, 33, was shot dead in the reception area of a gym in the Santana neighbourhood. Three suspects were detained in Itatiaia (RJ) and are under investigation.

Civil Police have identified the man shot dead in a gym in the Santana neighbourhood, North Zone of São José dos Campos (SP), on the afternoon of Tuesday (25) as Evandro Luiz Prudente, 33 years old. The case is being investigated by the Homicide team of DEIC, according to reporting by g1.globo.com.
Military Police were called at 13h57 following reports of gunfire at the gym, located on Avenida Rui Barbosa. Samu confirmed the death at 14h15.
Security cameras recorded the moment of the crime. The images show Evandro sitting in an armchair in the reception area, using his mobile phone, when an armed man enters the establishment, approaches the victim and fires shots. The shooter then flees on a motorcycle with another suspect. Forensics found 16 spent ammunition casings at the scene.
Three detained in Itatiaia after identification of suspicious vehicle
During investigations, Civil Police identified a vehicle with a possible connection to the crime and contacted the PRF and Military Police of Rio de Janeiro. The car was located and stopped in Itatiaia (RJ). Three men who were in the vehicle were taken to the police station in Resende. No weapon was found on them.
Civil police officers from São José dos Campos will assume the investigation into the possible involvement of the three men in the homicide.
The motorcycle used in the escape was found abandoned on the roadside of Rodovia Monteiro Lobato (SP-50), in São José dos Campos, and was examined by forensics.
Threats in the south of the country as possible motive
Civil Police are also investigating the motive for the crime. One line of investigation suggests that Evandro had worked as a loan shark in Rio Grande do Sul and moved to the São José dos Campos region after receiving threats.
The case was recorded as homicide at the 4th Police District of São José dos Campos.
