According to g1.globo.com, a man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday (6) after assaulting his partner and threatening to kill her in the Jardim Camargo neighbourhood in Piracicaba (SP). The suspect was also carrying firearms without authorisation and was in possession of R$ 14.1 thousand in cash without proof of origin.

Teams from the 10th Battalion of the Military Police responded to the incident following a report that a woman was locked in a room at the residence on Rua Avelina Ferreira da Cunha, claiming that her partner was trying to kill her.

Upon arriving at the property, the police officers found the victim with facial injuries and suspected facial fracture. She reported having been assaulted and threatened with death, and had managed to take refuge in a room to call for help.

During searches at the residence, officers located a .38 calibre revolver, a .22 calibre garrucha and 51 rounds of various calibres, in addition to the R$ 14,100 in cash. When questioned about the origin of the money, the suspect provided no explanation deemed "satisfactory" by the Military Police.

The man was taken to the Women's Police Station (DDM), where the police authority confirmed the arrest in flagrante delicto. He remains in custody pending a court decision. The Civil Police will continue the investigation to clarify all details of the case.
