The Federal Police detained two suspects in Campinas (SP) for sharing child sexual abuse images. The operation also executed four search and seizure warrants in the region.

The Federal Police detained two men on the morning of Tuesday (3) in Campinas, in the state of São Paulo, as part of an operation against crimes of child sexual abuse, according to information from g1.globo.com.
The first detainee is a retired man of 58 years old, arrested in flagrante in the Vila Castelo Branco neighbourhood. According to the Federal Police, the man was grooming children through the Snapchat application. The authorities indicated that they will request his preventive detention.
The second suspect, an unemployed man of 46 years old, was arrested in the Industrial neighbourhood, also in Campinas, during the same operation. In total, 30 federal police officers participated in the action.
During the operation, four search and seizure warrants were executed — three in Campinas and one in Bragança Paulista. In Bragança Paulista no materials were found, but two mobile phones were seized for forensic analysis.
All warrants were issued by the 1st and 9th Federal Courts of Campinas.
The operation, denominated Protective Hand II, aims to identify perpetrators and gather evidence related to the storage and sharing of material containing child sexual abuse content, crimes foreseen in the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA). The maximum accumulated sentence for these offences can reach 13 years of imprisonment.
