The Federal Police launched Operation Moega in Mato Grosso do Sul on Tuesday (25), according to campograndenews.com.br. The operation targeted a criminal organisation suspected of international drug trafficking destined for different Brazilian states and European countries.
In total, 15 search and seizure warrants were executed at addresses in Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, São Paulo and the Federal District, all by judicial order. The Mato Grosso do Sul cities targeted by the operation have not been disclosed by the Federal Police thus far.
According to the Federal Police, the group operated an organised structure for acquiring, storing and transporting drugs. The organisation recruited people to carry out the physical transport of narcotics to the destinations defined by the scheme's leaders.
During the searches, agents seized objects and documents that will be submitted to forensic analysis. The material could provide new evidence to advance the police investigation.
The investigated individuals are being charged with international drug trafficking and association for trafficking.
