The Civil Police of Goiás launched an operation called "Emboscada" which resulted in the arrest of members of a gang associated with organised supporters groups. The gang is suspected of spreading violence and killing a teenager in Aparecida de Goiânia.
The information was broadcast by the Central Brazil Journal (JBC) in Wednesday's edition (6), presented by Danuza Azevedo. The newscast also highlighted a second operation carried out against faction groups operating in illicit drug trafficking and concealment of proceeds obtained through criminal activity in the metropolitan region of the state capital.
The arrest of those involved in the first operation occurred following investigations that pointed to the participation of members of organised supporters groups in the crimes. The victim, a minor, was murdered in Aparecida de Goiânia.
The other operation aimed to dismantle criminal factions dedicated to drug trafficking and money laundering in Greater Goiânia. The two operations demonstrate the corporation's focus on combating organised crime in the state.
