Federal Police arrest man over counterfeit currency in interior of São Paulo

The Federal Police effected the arrest on the spot on Monday (8 June) of an individual in the municipality of Presidente Epitácio, in western São Paulo. The arrest took place when the man received a parcel from the postal service containing ten forged fifty-real notes.

According to preliminary investigations, the suspect had acquired the notes after negotiating with a seller through a social network. The total value of the material seized amounted to five hundred reals in counterfeit money.

Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Federal Police Precinct in Presidente Prudente, where he was charged with the crime of counterfeiting currency. The case remains under investigation by the corporation.
