Security forces arrested four members of a gang dedicated to robbing pharmaceutical establishments in the ABC Paulista region. The arrests were carried out at the suspects' homes, concluding a year of investigative work.

The gang left a trail of losses exceeding one million reais, obtained through the theft of high-cost medications and cash sums. The criminals' preferred territory was São Bernardo do Campo (SP), where they concentrated their operations.

The group's main target was high-value medications, particularly pens used for weight loss and treatments for diabetes and obesity. The robberies followed a defined methodology: the offenders announced the crime and led employees to an internal room, while collecting the highest-value items from the refrigerated sections.

Police investigations succeeded in linking the group to 14 offences committed in recent months. Some establishments were targeted multiple times. All those arrested already had criminal records for robbery and criminal association; the gang leader also had a conviction for domestic violence.

A security consultant warned that the stolen products are sold on the illegal market without the need for a medical prescription. He highlighted the dangers to the population, as these items may suffer deterioration due to lack of proper preservation.

The authorities continue investigations to identify any accomplices of the criminal organisation.
