São Paulo authorities arrested Eresvaldo Ribeiro Santos, identified as the second participant in the murder of retired military police officer Rodrigo Saraiva. The case took place in the capital when three thieves emerged from a wooded area to announce a robbery.

Rodrigo Saraiva, 50, did not resist the robbery. However, the criminals realised he was a police officer and decided to kill him. The officer left two children, and one of them also serves in the military police force.

Since investigations identified Santos as one of those responsible, he had been in hiding. Following his arrest, he told police that he regretted what had been committed.

During the search for the criminals, information received by police led officers to a community. There, they found a bicycle similar to the deceased police officer's. The vehicle, valued at over R$ 100,000, was inside an empty house belonging to an alleged receiver of stolen goods.

The SSP (Public Security Secretariat) reported that investigative work is ongoing to locate the third member of the gang.
