Suspect confesses to shooting daughter of police officers during robbery in Salvador

A man presented himself spontaneously to the Specialised Department of Criminal Investigations (DEIC) in Salvador and declared himself the author of the shot that killed Brenda Nicole Alves, daughter of military police officers. According to information obtained by g1.globo.com, Ricardo Neri Melo Junior, 24, appeared at the police station accompanied by his lawyer on Monday afternoon (7).
The crime occurred in the early hours of Sunday (6), in the Imbuí neighbourhood. Brenda was returning from a party on a motorcycle with her boyfriend when she was approached by a man who demanded she hand over her mobile phone. Upon resisting, the young woman was shot in the face. The suspect fled immediately after firing the shot.
The Military Police were called and also contacted the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). Brenda was assisted, but did not survive her injuries. Her death was confirmed at the scene.
Before Ricardo's presentation, another man had been detained and taken to the DEIC for questioning, following the identification of a motorcycle with characteristics similar to the one used in the crime. After giving a statement, he was released: investigations determined that he had no connection to the case.
Brenda Nicole Alves was a Law intern and entrepreneur in the beachwear fashion industry. Her wake took place on Sunday at 16:30 at Bosque da Paz cemetery in the Bahian capital.
