The crime occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday (6), in the Imbuí neighbourhood, when Brenda was returning from a party on a motorcycle with her boyfriend. According to information gathered by TV Bahia, the suspect demanded that the young woman hand over her mobile phone. She allegedly resisted and was shot in the face. Melo Junior fled afterwards.

The Military Police were called and provided support to the ambulance service at the scene. Brenda was rescued, but did not survive her injuries and her death was confirmed at the scene of the crime. The wake was held on Sunday itself, at 4.30 p.m., at Bosque da Paz cemetery, in the capital of Bahia.

Brenda Nicole was a law intern, entrepreneur, and daughter of military police officers.

Second suspect taken in and motorcycle located

Also on Monday, a second man was brought to the DEIC as a suspect in participation in the crime, following the identification of a motorcycle with characteristics similar to the one used in the act. During investigations, police concluded that he had no connection to the case and released him after giving a statement.

As investigations advanced, teams from the Vehicle Theft and Robbery Prevention Battalion (Apolo), working jointly with the Department of Suppression of Theft and Robbery, carried out investigations in the Sussuarana Nova neighbourhood and located the motorcycle identified as the vehicle used in the crime. The vehicle was presented to the DEIC and incorporated into the body of evidence in the investigation.

According to the Military Police, investigations are continuing with the aim of locating the firearm used in the crime and gathering the remaining elements necessary for complete clarification of the occurrence.
