A federal military police officer died on the evening of Tuesday in Corumbá, a city situated at the border between Brazil and Bolivia, during a police pursuit operation. Shortly afterwards, two people were detained on the Bolivian side of the border on suspicion of involvement in the homicide.

According to reports from the eju.tv portal, the victim was identified as Marcelo Pimenta Da Silva, aged 32. He was riding a motorcycle when he spotted officers approaching a motor vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle broke into a house and fired shots. Surveillance recordings show the moment when the police officer appears to be struck by a projectile and falls.

Pimenta Da Silva was attended to and taken to a health facility, but did not survive his injuries. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the two suspects in Bolivian territory.

According to initial information, the Federal Police identified one of those detained as the perpetrator of the fatal shot. Preliminary reports indicate that this individual had links with the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), a Brazilian criminal organisation.
