The panel of judges at Santa Maria da Feira Court decided, this Wednesday, to extend the deadline for delivering a sentence in the case of Miguel Ângelo, a young man from that city known by the pseudonym 'Mikazz'. The defendant is suspected of having encouraged a minor aged 16 to carry out an attack at an educational establishment in Sapopemba, São Paulo, Brazil, in the autumn of 2023.

According to the prosecution, the incident cost the life of Giovanna Bezerra, a victim of gunfire. Two other school attacks were also prevented, as well as the homicide of an individual experiencing homelessness.

At the time of the facts, Miguel Ângelo was 17 years old. He would typically spend most of the day at the computer in his mother's home in Santa Maria da Feira. Through the group 'The Kiss' on the 'Discord' application, messages of hatred, racist content and encouragement to self-harm and animal cruelty were being spread.

The hearing took place in a closed session, without public presence, owing to the defendant facing 224 further charges of child sexual abuse material, of which 223 are classified as aggravated.
