A routine operation by the Highway Military Police resulted in the arrest of three individuals on Tuesday afternoon (30), at kilometre 74 of Presidente Castello Branco Road, in the municipality of Itu, in the interior of São Paulo. The men are suspected of transporting foreign merchandise irregularly.

The stop occurred on an interstate bus service travelling from Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, heading towards the city of São Paulo. Police officers verified that the bus complied with traffic regulations, but upon inspecting the luggage compartment, they discovered a large quantity of imported products without proper documentation.

The merchandise, which had neither invoices nor import licences from regulatory bodies such as Anvisa, was estimated at approximately R$ 345 thousand at market value. The list of seized items included dozens of mobile telephone devices, virtual reality glasses, laptop computers, wearable devices and headphones. Various units of weight-loss medicines and anabolic steroids were also found.

The passengers responsible for the suitcases were detained and taken to the Federal Police headquarters in Sorocaba. All material was collected as evidence and deposited at a location designated by the Federal Revenue Service. The arrested individuals await a judicial decision regarding their procedural situation.
