An armed confrontation in the car park of an educational complex mobilised dozens of police officers on the afternoon of Monday (22) on the road to Itapecerica da Serra, in the southern zone of the São Paulo capital. The incident left at least one person wounded, who was taken to South Central Hospital.
The episode occurred precisely during the school shift change: secondary school students were leaving the site as university students arrived for classes. According to preliminary reports obtained by the R7 news portal, a man who was on campus to pick up his daughter resisted a criminal attempt.
The father, who is an off-duty police officer, reportedly exchanged gunfire with an alleged robber. After the shots, the scene descended into panic: students and family members ran for cover, and the car park became filled with police vehicles that cordoned off the area.
Ambulance teams were also deployed to the address to provide emergency care. Witnesses described a general scramble as soon as the first shots were heard.
The institution houses both undergraduate courses and secondary education, occupying a large plot of land in the region. Officers remain in the surrounding area conducting searches to locate the shooter or any possible accomplices who may be hiding nearby.
The authorities are still working to confirm the exact number of victims and clarify the full circumstances of the incident.
