An attempted homicide took place on Wednesday in a cleaning business in the Zurich district of Seebach. A 55-year-old Syrian national entered the premises, seized a blade and attacked the 31-year-old owner. The aggressor had previously worked at this business.
The young entrepreneur, who resumed his duties the day after the attack, sustained cut wounds to his face, back and shoulder area. During the struggle, he managed to wrest the stabbing weapon from the perpetrator. His mother, who was in the shop at the time of the incident, suffered traumatic shock.
Zurich city police received the first report shortly before half past two in the afternoon. The incident was preceded by an argument between the two individuals, during which the older man drew his weapon. That same evening, officers arrested the suspect at his residential address.
To secure evidence, forensic specialists and staff from the city's forensic medicine institute were present at the scene. Further investigations are the responsibility of the public prosecutor's office for serious violent crimes and the cantonal police.
