Identity misuse over six months: Bernese woman before court
A woman from the canton of Bern used another person's details without consent for around six months. According to 20 Minuten, citing a penal order available to the publication, she used the victim's email address, first and last name, and telephone number for a series of actions.
In July 2025, the woman created user accounts on the adult platforms "xHamster" and "Pornhub" using the stolen data. She also subscribed to newsletters from the University Hospital of Zurich and two other adult portals.
Furthermore, she contacted one cantonal hospital and one university hospital under the false identity and expressed a desire to have children. In one message, she wrote: "I absolutely want a child! Please help me." She also registered using the false email address for a consultation on skin treatment as well as for nutritional counselling.
The woman also sent several insulting messages under the false identity. In these messages, she described certain individuals as "selfish and narcissistic" or as a "toxic person". To the actual holder of the misused contact details, she wrote that this person was "completely disturbed", needed therapy, and was a "sick person".
The court found the woman guilty of identity misuse, defamation, and insult. She received a suspended fine of 3,600 francs with a probationary period of two years and an ancillary fine of 900 francs.
