A 35-year-old man died following a violent altercation outside the AOMC railway station in Monthey. Three suspects were apprehended, with two remaining in provisional detention.

A 35-year-old Frenchman lost his life following a violent dispute that occurred on Saturday morning outside the AOMC railway station in Monthey, in Valais. Transported in critical condition to Sion Hospital, he died there on Monday. Three individuals were apprehended.
Around 7:00 on Saturday, two people attacked a man on the forecourt of Monthey railway station. The motives for this assault remain to be determined by the investigation, the Valais Public Ministry and cantonal police specified on Monday. The assailants then fled.
Railway station employees provided first aid to the victim and attempted to resuscitate him while awaiting the arrival of emergency services. The man in his thirties was evacuated by ambulance to the Sion hospital centre, where he ultimately died from his injuries on Monday.
The authorities quickly apprehended three suspected individuals. These consist of a Portuguese man, a Franco-Algerian man and an Angolan man, aged 22 to 30. Following their interrogation, two of them were remanded in custody. The Portuguese citizen was released; he will, however, be prosecuted for failing to provide assistance.
The Public Ministry has opened an investigation to establish the precise circumstances of this tragedy.
