According to swissinfo.ch, the Baselland cantonal police have arrested two Swiss men aged 28 and 29. They are suspected of being responsible for two armed robberies of post offices. The public prosecutor's office has opened criminal proceedings and requested investigative detention from the court responsible for compulsory measures.
On 6 March, a man threatened staff at the post office branch in Reinach and fled with cash. Five days later, on 11 March, an assailant robbed the branch in Münchenstein – this time with a handgun. In both cases, no one was injured.
The arrested men are residents of the region. For investigative reasons, police are providing no further details on the background to the arrests.
