Uniformed police detained a 15-year-old boy suspected of being part of a gang that attacked a 98-year-old man and his 70-year-old daughter to steal their vehicle. The assault occurred on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of General Baquedano and Tracción Street, in the heart of the capital.

Eyewitnesses filmed how at least three criminals intercepted the victims as they were about to exit their car. The thieves threw them violently against the pavement and made off with the vehicle.

A descendant of the elderly man recounted that one of the criminals opened the driver's door, ordered the seventy-year-old to get out and knocked him down on the pavement. When the nonagenarian began shouting for help, the thieves attempted to stifle his cries by covering his mouth. They then dragged him until he was left lying on the roadside.

Later, the vehicle was located with collision damage in San Ramón. At that location, officers arrested the minor, who was apparently driving the stolen car at the time of causing a multiple collision.

The other participants in the robbery remain at large and police maintain active investigations to locate them.
