Two women were arrested by Carabineros at Arturo Merino Benítez Airport in Santiago on suspicion of fraud through fraudulent use of credit cards to purchase airline tickets, according to latercera.com.
The operation was carried out by the Police Investigation Section (S.I.P.), following a complaint from a victim who reported unrecognised charges on her credit card, corresponding to the purchase of international airline tickets.
Following that complaint, investigative procedures made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrators: two Chilean women aged 25 and 26. The investigation also revealed that both had a flight booked to Madrid, which prompted the deployment of an operation at the airport that culminated in their arrest.
Captain Dennis Wladdimiro, Officer on Duty Santiago Occidente, confirmed the facts: "We have succeeded in arresting two women for the crime of fraud as a result of a complaint received this morning associated with fraudulent charges for the purchase of airline tickets on an international flight."
Those detained were placed at the disposal of the justice system for the corresponding detention review hearing.
