Homicide in Recoleta: commune resident stabbed to death in early morning
Carabineros is investigating a homicide that occurred at the intersection of O'Higgins Street and Dorsal Avenue, in the Recoleta commune, during the early hours of Tuesday, reported biobiochile.cl.
The victim, identified as a resident of the commune itself, had multiple stab wounds on his body. Carabineros lieutenant Javier Zúñiga confirmed that the deceased's relatives were present at the scene when officers arrived.
"The deceased is believed to be a resident of Recoleta commune and the relatives are in the sector," Zúñiga said, adding that there are witnesses to what occurred.
According to preliminary information, the incident could correspond to a brawl, though the investigation remains open to other lines of inquiry. In addition to the stab wounds, Carabineros does not rule out the involvement of firearms: lieutenant Zúñiga confirmed the discovery of ballistic evidence at the scene of the incident.
On the instruction of the ECOH Prosecutor's Office, the case was placed under the charge of the PDI Homicide Brigade.
