According to lacuarta.com, the Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed the detention of the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a 16-year-old student that occurred in the vicinity of the Liceo Polivalente Santiago de Compostela, in the municipality of San Bernardo.

The Western Metropolitan Public Prosecutor's Office reported that the accused is a 17-year-old adolescent against whom a detention order was already in place. The minor chose to present himself voluntarily to the Public Prosecutor's Office.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, 30 July, when the youth, of Venezuelan origin, was fatally stabbed as he was leaving the educational establishment. The assault allegedly arose from a fight between the victim and other students from the same school.

Following the assault, the student was transferred to the Parroquial Hospital of San Bernardo, where he died. Colonel Juan Carlos Gibert, of the Maipo Precinct, stated that "initially, the first information suggests a discussion that took place inside, which spilled out onto the street, onto public thoroughfare".

The victim's mother recounted to CHV Noticias that it was a schoolmate who alerted her to what had happened. "They told me 'your son is in bad shape'. And a few minutes later, I was informed that he had died", she said.

The woman also alleged that those responsible were three young men, all older than her son. "What I want is for justice to be done. The boys who stabbed my son were three and older than him. The teacher Bryan knew they were going to beat him when he left and did nothing", she declared.
