Woman found dead with knife wounds in central Santiago
In the early morning hours of Thursday, the body of a woman was discovered on a public street in central Santiago, Chile. The discovery occurred at the intersection of Santa Rosa and Pedro Lagos. The victim presented with knife wounds which, according to authorities, suggest the involvement of another person in her death.
A municipal guard operating from a surveillance booth in the area raised the alarm. Following the alert, Carabineros officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the death. Captain Francisco Ortega stated that the body showed clear signs that someone else had been involved.
It is believed that the deceased was Chilean. Initial reports suggest that she may have been living on the street, although to date her identity has not been established.
The investigation was assigned to detectives from the Police Investigation Service (PDI). Deputy Commissioner Ítalo Alfaro stated that, for now, investigations point to a single assailant having committed the crime.
