On the morning of Monday, a man aged around 60 years old lost his life inside a dwelling in Santiago commune as a result of an attack with a bladed weapon.

Everything began when the municipality received a telephone communication alerting authorities to the death of a person. Municipal personnel then travelled to the tenement located at Juan Vicuña with Victoria, confirming the death of the individual.

Captain Stephan Stewart explained that the dispute arose when two individuals were arguing and one of them used a bladed weapon against the other, causing death at the scene.

The deceased, aged close to 60 and with a police record, was identified as a man. The person who allegedly committed the assault, a 44-year-old man who also had a record, was apprehended at the residence and taken to the 4th Police Station in Santiago.

At present, the relationship between the two men has not been determined. Uniformed police are maintaining an active investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
