Second arrest made in murder of Freddy Santiago Guzmán on Transmilenio

Second detainee reveals how crime was coordinated at Minuto de Dios station
The capture of Kevin Leonardo Naranjo, the second person implicated in the murder of university student Freddy Santiago Guzmán that occurred on 15 April at the Minuto de Dios station of Transmilenio, allowed a key detail of the criminal operation to be clarified, according to noticiasrcn.com.
According to the prosecutor in the case, Naranjo kept the doors of an articulated bus open to guarantee the escape of his accomplices whilst they fatally wounded the 19-year-old youth during an attempted robbery. "You made sure that the doors of the articulated bus remained open so that, in this way, you could ensure your criminal enterprise partners could enter and achieve their escape," the prosecutor said in a hearing.
Naranjo was sent to prison without accepting the charges. He faces homicide and aggravated robbery in attempted form, both offences aggravated.
Days earlier, Harold Figueroa Ballen, 22 years old, had been captured in the locality of Engativá, identified as directly responsible for wounding Freddy Santiago when the victim resisted the robbery. Figueroa is also deprived of liberty.
Freddy Santiago worked part-time at a cinema to pay for his systems engineering studies. His mother, Luz Mery Cárdenas, valued the progress in the investigation, but warned that the family will not rest until all those responsible are detained. "It is very significant progress, thank God, the capture of the second person responsible for the death," she said in an interview with Noticias RCN, "but they still lack the capture of one more."
