A man without a criminal record who was travelling from the capital with nearly 630 grammes of narcotics was intercepted by anti-drug detectives in the southern region, where he planned to distribute the merchandise.

Officers from the Anti-Narcotics and Organised Crime Brigade based in Temuco carried out an operation in conjunction with the Public Prosecutor's Office of Lautaro, which resulted in the capture of a Chilean man of adult age with no prior criminal record. The arrest is based on the alleged violation of article three of the legislation that penalises clandestine trafficking in psychoactive substances.
The investigations carried out by the officers determined that the man acquired the drug in Santiago and then transported it in intercity collective transport vehicles bound for Temuco, with the intention of selling it in that city.
The raid and search allowed officers to seize 625.15 grammes of cocaine hydrochloride, whose price on the black market is estimated at over 8 million Chilean pesos. Similarly, a telephone device was confiscated which, according to evidence, had been used as a tool to coordinate the criminal activity.
The detainee resides in the locality of Chol Chol and, at the time of his apprehension, had no pending proceedings or police records.
At the request of the prosecutor directing the investigation, the accused was brought before the Guarantee Court of Lautaro to conduct the hearing on the deprivation of liberty. The seized narcotics will be handed over to the Southern Araucanía Health Service, in accordance with applicable legal protocols.
