The Security Minister, Martín Arrau, acknowledged a state failure in the case, whilst the local mayor Christopher White, a member of the Socialist Party, called for the deployment of armed forces to the streets. The mayor argued that the commune faces territorial control by criminal organisations, highlighting the Los Macaya clan, whose properties were recently intervened.
