A young man was admitted in serious condition to hospital following an attack in an open-air area in Limassol.

A 23-year-old youth was admitted in critical condition to Limassol General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon following an attack he suffered in an open-air area in Kátho Polemídia.
The incident occurred at approximately 14:30. The victim was found with a wound to the abdominal area, whilst the perpetrator disappeared from the scene. An ambulance took the injured man, who was intubated and operated on immediately.
A witness who was nearby reported that he saw two individuals fighting. When he approached, he found the 23-year-old on the ground asking for help. The area was cordoned off by police.
The Deputy Police Commissioner of Limassol, Lefteris Kyriákou, stated that investigations are progressing. Video footage from security cameras around the scene is being examined. The Polemídia area is a meeting point for young people due to the health and wellness establishments operating there.
The authorities are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to provide information. The Limassol Serious Crime Unit is handling the case.
