Four people arrested for criminal organisation in Larnaca and Nicosia
Four people are in custody following a joint police operation carried out in the districts of Larnaca and Nicosia. The operation was organised by Larnaca's TAE in cooperation with other units of the prosecution authorities.
Two businesspeople aged 44 and 42 respectively were arrested, the first from Larnaca and the second from Nicosia. They were arrested together with a 49-year-old man already held at Central Prison, as well as a 45-year-old woman. All four are accused of a series of serious violations alleged to have taken place in Larnaca and the wider region between 2021 and 2024.
The charges they face are particularly serious. They include membership and participation in a criminal organisation, conspiracy to commit felonies and misdemeanours, abduction or unlawful detention of persons, fraud involving false claims, issuing forged documents, extortion through threats to seize property, threats of bodily harm, unlawful possession and transfer of weapons and explosives, as well as money laundering from illegal activities.
Following the suspects' arrest, the authorities conducted searches at various premises and seized evidence. The four people are expected to appear before Larnaca District Court the following day, where the police will seek the issuance of a warrant for their detention.
