A search lasting more than two years for a thirty-seven-year-old man has been concluded, plzenska.drbna.cz reported. The man was last seen at a petrol station in Rozvalov on the D5 motorway — on 13 January 2024, when he got out of a car and walked away to an unknown destination.
Several weeks ago, human remains were found in the Tachov district. DNA analysis confirmed their identity with the missing person.
"We are discontinuing the search for the man who had been missing since 13 January 2024 and was last seen at a petrol station in Rozvalov. Several weeks ago, skeletal remains were found in the Tachov district and DNA analysis carried out led to identification of the missing person," said police spokesperson Iva Vršecká.
The results of the forensic autopsy and other circumstances provide no indication of foul play. The man suffered from mental health problems and when he disappeared, he did not take money or a mobile phone with him. He got out of the car in the evening hours, with his colleague being the last person to see him.
