Armed robbery of gold transport firm: Investigators search for perpetrators in Mühlacker
More than eighteen months after a robbery of a gold transport firm in Mühlacker, the ZDF programme "Aktenzeichen XY" features the case. Investigators are searching for masked perpetrators and a possible witness.
Robbery of secured gold transport firm remains unsolved
On 27 March 2025, several masked individuals robbed a heavily secured gold transport firm in Mühlacker in Enzkreis. According to sueddeutsche.de, the perpetrators partially deactivated the security system of the video-monitored premises and stole gold bars, scrap gold and valuable jewellery worth several hundred thousand euros.
One of the perpetrators left DNA traces at the crime scene. These match findings from several offences in Austria and France — however, the man's identity remains unclear. The criminal police suspect that the perpetrators had insider knowledge and had carefully planned the robbery. An employee was sprayed with tear gas during the operation and sustained minor injuries.
The escape was presumably in a white van whose number plates had been stolen a year earlier. A manhunt involving several patrol cars and a police helicopter was unsuccessful.
The ZDF programme "Aktenzeichen XY... unsolved" covers the case in the edition of 20 November 2024. Presenter Rudi Cerne presents the investigation and appeals for information about the perpetrators as well as about a passer-by who was passing during the robbery and may have made important observations. Leads on the stolen jewellery could provide the police with further clues.
