Nuremberg: Trial begins against suspected rapist

Investigation task force brings first case to court

A 22-year-old will appear before Nuremberg District Court starting Monday. According to Süddeutsche Zeitung, the prosecution accuses him of giving prescription medications to a 16-year-old girl on two occasions. During the second handover, he allegedly pressured her to take the tablets and subsequently raped her. His case is the first from the "Kajal" investigation task force to be tried.

The task force has been searching for months for alleged dealers in the vicinity of Nuremberg central station who are suspected of sexually abusing girls and young women using drugs. Since May, numerous suspects have been investigated. In this specific case, the defendant is also accused of giving ecstasy to his 16-year-old girlfriend.

The court has scheduled four trial dates until early December. The proceedings are generally open to the public, though exceptions are possible.
