Police search Kassel garden with digger – murder allegation yields no evidence

Investigation yields no evidence

According to hessenschau.de, the Kassel state prosecutor's office is investigating a 27-year-old on suspicion of manslaughter. The man is said to have told an acquaintance that he fatally injured a homeless man during an argument with a tool in summer 2025 and subsequently buried him in his garden.

The statement appeared credible enough to investigators to warrant a search warrant. During the operation in the previous week, officers arrived with cadaver dogs and a digger and excavated the entire property. According to the prosecutor's office, however, they found no evidence of a killing or suspicious findings.

The suspected perpetrator remains at large. During the search, he stated that his earlier statements had not been serious. A formal interrogation has not yet taken place. Police are now examining whether the man must bear the costs of the operation.
