Musician released after committal hearing on weapons and drugs
A younger, well-known Danish hitmaker was released on Saturday afternoon following a committal hearing in a case concerning unlawful possession of weapons and narcotics. This was confirmed to B.T. by prosecutor Alexander Scheel.
The musician was arrested on Friday on Copenhagen's west side together with three other men aged 28 to 34. The charges against the group concern possession of two pistols and a revolver as well as 843 grams of ketamine.
The committal hearing began at 10.00 on Saturday and was concluded shortly before 17.00. The prosecutor had requested that all four men be remanded in custody, but according to Ekstra Bladet, the musician was released because there was insufficient evidence that he was in possession of a pistol. He denies guilt.
The three other men have been remanded in custody.
The judge granted the prosecutor's request for closed proceedings at the court hearing, which means that neither statements nor evidence material are publicly available. The accused are furthermore protected by a reporting restriction, which makes it a criminal offence to publish information that could identify them.
According to Ekstra Bladet, the musician's defence lawyer argued for the reporting restriction by reference to the fact that the musician is publicly known.
