A person died on Monday after being stabbed with a knife in a flat in central Frederikshavn, according to TV 2 Nyheder.
North Zealand Police received the report at 12.16 and responded quickly to what they described as a "serious incident". Witnesses provided first aid to the victim at the scene before patrols, ambulance and rescue services arrived, but the victim's life could not be saved.
According to police, the initial investigation suggests this is an isolated episode between people who knew each other, and that the incident has no connection to criminal gang environments.
"We are working intensively on the case and have taken a number of investigative steps. At the present time, there is nothing to suggest that other citizens have been in danger," said Deputy Chief Constable Søren Pejtersen, who is leading the investigation.
Pejtersen added that police are still in the initial phase and are working to secure traces at the scene.
"The investigation must now clarify the precise sequence of events and the background to the episode. We currently have some different hypotheses and some witness statements that we are working on," he said.
At the time of the press statement, the deceased's next of kin had not yet been notified.
