Fraud-accused duo appeared in court in Dubai case involving 1.1 billion kroner
Two defendants in a case involving dividend tax fraud totalling 1.1 billion kroner failed to appear on Tuesday at the start of proceedings – they had been forgotten in their cells.

Two defendants in a massive case involving dividend tax fraud failed to appear on Tuesday when judge Morten Juul Nielsen opened the proceedings – because no one had collected them from the cells where they were waiting. This is reported by Politiken.
Prosecutor Anders Møllmann had to draw the judge's attention to the fact that Rajen Shah and Anupe Dhorajiwala were not present in the courtroom at all. After a ten-minute pause, the two men arrived accompanied by two police officers.
The case, which is expected to last over a year, concerns alleged dividend tax fraud that purportedly cost Denmark 1.1 billion kroner.
Shah and Dhorajiwala had both been imprisoned in Dubai – one for more than a year – before they were extradited to Denmark a month ago and placed in custody. In the courtroom, the two men appeared well-dressed in dark trousers and freshly ironed shirts and, according to Politiken, blended in well with the row of defence lawyers surrounding them.
