Dominican police capture three INTERPOL fugitives and receive extradited individual from Argentina
The National Police of the Dominican Republic detained three citizens sought by France, the Netherlands and Chile, and received an extradited individual from Buenos Aires.
Four international operations in less than a week
The National Police of the Dominican Republic carried out four international cooperation operations between 26 and 31 October, according to noticiassin.com: the capture of three fugitives wanted by INTERPOL and the reception of a Dominican extradited from Argentina. All actions were coordinated by the National Central Office (OCN-Interpol) Santo Domingo.
The first detainee was French citizen Romain Cairfarland Eleuthere, arrested on 26 October at Las Américas International Airport when attempting to board a flight to the British Virgin Islands. France is seeking him as the main suspect in a murder committed in Guadeloupe in February 2026.
On 30 October, agents arrested Roberto Aurelio Stefano Porru in Juan Dolio, a national of the Netherlands and Italy. The Netherlands is seeking him for alleged cocaine trafficking, money laundering and leadership of a criminal organisation. Authorities indicated that he had used fraudulent Spanish documents to travel without being identified.
That same day, in Santo Domingo Este, Dominican citizen Modesto Brand Javier was detained, sought by Chile for his alleged involvement in a homicide that occurred in November 2024 in the city of Santiago.
Extradited from Buenos Aires for homicide in Villa Consuelo
In a separate proceeding, on 31 October the Police received Cristian López, alias Emerson, extradited from Buenos Aires through a joint operation between Dominican and Argentine authorities. López was wanted by Dominican justice for alleged criminal association, homicide and illegal carrying of firearms, in relation to an incident that occurred in May 2024 in Villa Consuelo, National District. In that incident, a man died and a 14-year-old adolescent was shot and injured.
The institution noted that all detainees remained in the custody of the competent authorities to continue the corresponding judicial and extradition proceedings.
