An operation by Ecuador's National Police discovered three postal shipments that concealed drugs within school materials. The action was carried out on 2 July 2026 at various courier agencies in Guayaquil, as part of the 3D plan aimed at dismantling drug-trafficking networks.
The checks were applied from 12:00 to 17:00. Upon examining the packages, officers found yellow folders with university notebooks; hidden between their pages were sheets soaked in cocaine hydrochloride. Field tests yielded a total weight of 796 grammes, equivalent to approximately 8,000 doses.
The authorities stated that the planned route was Guayaquil-Madrid. Using parcel companies to move narcotics is a recurring tactic used by criminal groups attempting to evade security filters.
In the Ecuadorian market, the seized substance would have an approximate cost of 1,810 dollars. However, its price in Europe would be around 37,213 dollars, which demonstrates the wide profit margin that gangs obtain when crossing borders.
The anti-drugs unit maintains sustained checks at mail terminals and logistical centres to intercept illicit shipments before they leave national territory. With this seizure, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to closing routes for drug exports abroad.
